Greater Faith History

In 2008, Pastor Regina Y. Harris and her family began the journey to what is now recognized as the Greater Faith Christian Ministries.  With very humble beginnings, PastorHarris started with just the support of her family, Gabriel, Gabrielle, Jordan, and Jerry.  Upon leaving their home church, First Baptist Broad, under the leadership of Pastor Keith Norman, they leased and occupied the building located at 226 W. Brooks Road and conducted their first service on September 7th of that same year.  Not knowing where the members would come from, they faithfully served  Sunday after Sunday and operated the ministry as if the church was full.upon the advice of her pastor, "Prepare and operate as if you are large so that when they come you will be prepared."  These words resignated in Pastor Harris' spirit and she adopted the mantra, "We are a growing church doing mega ministry."  Soon GFCM recieved her first member, Dorothy Robertson, and the growth began from there.

While Greater Faith has grown some numerically, the largest part of her growth has come through spiritual growth.  She has become an active part in the community through collaborative efforts with local churches in the South Memphis area.  She has also served through her outreach efforts in providing health fairs, providing teeth cleaning to the youth in the community, serving at the neighborhood nursing home, providing classes through MLG& W on energy efficiency, and providing school supplies for the neighborhood school among other benevolant activities.

Greater Faith experienced many struggles that forced her to reevaluate how she would sustain over the next few years.  Under Pastor Harris' leadership, GFC decided  that it was manidtory to leave the 226 W. Brooks Rd. location to cut expenses in order to be able to exist in the future.  Pastor Pamela G. Addison readily opened her doors to aid GFCM during this difficult time.  While Greater Faith was housed with Living the Kingdom Life Baptist Church, she was able to take an old building to begin reviltalization in order to secure a place for future worship services.  Under the leadership of Minister Gabriel Harris the building was effectively revitalized.   Minister Harris worked day in and day out until the building was completed.

Greater Fatih is now located at 2166 Florida Street.  During the transition period, Greater Faith lost several members, but she still embraces its mantra of being a growing church doing mega ministry.    GFCM has had many struggles, but God's hand has truly held her and sustained her during those difficult times.
